Puppy’s first off lead walk

puppy obedience training - learning to stayThe recall is one of the most common problems that people have with their dog and the younger you can start work on this the more effective your training techniques will be. Most puppies will come back and not stray far at 11/12 weeks old and owners feel they have got a good recall. BEWARE!!! As your pup gets older it will get braver and go further.

The first few walks are the most important time for installing a good recall in your dog and not loosing it as it grows older.

A trainer will come out with you to let your dog off lead (dog needs to be under 16 weeks for this service) and show you how to get an effective recall before your pup gets older and bolder and starts to go further.

Some people lack the confidence in letting their pup off lead so have a trainer there with you to build your confidence and show you what you need to do, it is important that puppies are let off lead as early as possible to enable you to work on obtaining a good return command.
