Our trainers

Sarah Green

Sarah GreenSarah is the owner and founder of Mutleys. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers (APDT)*, and has been assessed by them and works under their code of conduct to ensure all methods used are fair and gentle and no harsh or punitive methods are used.

Sarah has owned and lived with dogs since she was 12, getting her first Springer Spaniels of her own in 2000 and 2001. Sarah has also owned a Working Cocker, Ellie, who lived to be nearly 14, and has a 13 year old Lowchen called Taya. She has been working with dogs for 18 years having found a love for training and an understanding of them through owning her own dogs.

Sarah originally completed a degree in Psychology, which gives her a good basis for working with people and understanding how people learn. She then trained in Canine Psychology through the Animal Care College at Ascot, an established organisation with Accreditation through the Open College Network.

It is important when training dogs that the owners understand the reasons behind the methods used, with a good background in communication and working with a wide range of people Sarah has developed her training classes to ensure the knowledge of the trainer is passed on and understood to the owner, to enable them to continue the training when out of the classroom.

Sarah is keen to develop further and continue training to stay up-to-date with new ideas to enable her to share this with the owners of the dogs she teaches.

Lisa Gibson

Lisa Gibson and MaxLisa runs our classes in Frampton Cotterell and BS5 (Hanham / St George area). She initially joined Mutleys as a volunteer back in 2009 and began teaching classes in 2010, first in Clifton, then Patchway, before establishing branches of Mutleys in Frampton (2016) and BS5 (2021). Having trained with Sarah using only kind, fair and effective training methods as per the APDT's code of practice, Lisa is a dedicated force-free trainer focusing on building a positive lifelong relationship between dog and owner.

Like Sarah, Lisa's original degree was in Psychology. Further to this she spent five years working in Human Resources, gaining excellent relational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people - a critical skill for any trainer - before taking the plunge to translate her love of dogs into professional dog training.

A firm believer that we should never stop learning, Lisa regularly attends training courses and seminars as well as shadowing and volunteering, all alongside running her busy training classes which have lots of happy customers. She has been lucky enough to attend workshops and seminars run by big names in canine behaviour and practice - Ian Dunbar, Toni Shelbourne, Hannah Capon, Victoria Stilwell, Craig Ogilvie - to name a few. She then happily spends hours in between sessions reading and learning to further her own knowledge.

Having worked with hundreds of dogs and their people over the years, Lisa is passionate about helping each client to understand and enjoy their dog through better education and communication.

Small classes, a friendly atmosphere and lots of reward-based hard work have made this a weekly experience my baby pug Eddie and I look forward to. Highly recommended.
The puppy classes with you have been a complete success right from the off. You were recommended by a few people and have not disappointed.
